Letting Go of The Need to Explain

“Sometimes I think my life is hard…but then I think ‘Wait...I could have kids’”

Whoa! This was innocently said to me one afternoon, and as you can see, it got me to think. At that moment, my first reaction was to start talking about the effort parenting requires and how raising a child was well worth the sacrifice…yet I quickly realized there was no way I was going to accurately express the depth of my parenting experience to someone with the aforementioned perspective.

I replaced my words with a deep breath and smile.

Now, I would gladly and openly share about my experience so far of being a Mother to this person. Let me be clear, to stop talking was in no way an ego driven choice rather it came from a place of acceptance. Acceptance of this person’s perspective, which was simply different from mine.

The art of conversation feels, at times, like a dance. Knowing when to listen and understanding when it’s time to speak up.

Yet, in this situation, my spiritual practice became Accepting. Not only consciously acknowledging someone else’s experience but also to acknowledge how it is true for them, in other words, I sought to understand

I’ve noticed that there are many paradoxes when we study Universal Truths. We’ve heard the saying “everyone is on their own journey”. Notice that when we acknowledge this and understand how everyone’s unique and individual experiences shape their perspectives, compassion for ALL is created.

Gratitude Leaf by Lukas B. (November, 2024)

In that situation, I chose to accept that I would not be able to convey the feeling of seeing the picture above, a leaf with words created by a pen in the hands of my son, that expressed something (or in this case, someone) that he was grateful for.

I won’t be able to convey the feeling of looking into his eyes before he falls asleep, or how taking radical responsibility as a Mother beckoned me to step into my highest self.

More than likely, I would not be able to convey this because of the lens from which this person views having kids. And that’s just fine. Even MORE divine, look how curiosity (such a fun frequency) can be born from this–if their soul’s focus is not children, I wonder what IS. Surely it is just as important.

As we continue to empower ourselves, may we also offer this empowerment to those around us.

As we continue to bless and pray over ourselves, may we offer blessings and prayers to humanity.

As we hone into the frequency of our Soul, may we encourage others to do the same.

A Mother humbly stepping into Her Power, 2024

Yours in Creating Compassion and Changing the World,

Lina
